Sandersville Native Promoted to Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer

(WALLOPS ISLAND, Va.) - A Washington County High School graduate and Sandersville, Georgia native was promoted to Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer serving at Center for Surface Combat Systems (CSCS) Detachment in Wallops Island, Virginia. 

Senior Chief Petty Officer Patricia Coleman-Adams, a sonar technician, is the senior enlisted advisor at CSCS.  She is a liaison for both the officer in charge and surface ships personnel during phase training and the command equal opportunity, family advocate, safety, sexual assault and morale, welfare and recreation programs. 

As a sonar technician, she inspects, installs, maintains and tests various mission-essential electrical systems, software and equipment for the command. 

Serving in the Navy for 22 years, Adams' awards and qualifications include the Navy and Marine Achievement Medal (eight awards), Good Conduct Medal (six awards), two Certificate of Appreciations from Marine Corps signed by Brigadier General Jon Gallanetti for Operation Enduring Families and the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) and Integrated Undersea Surveillance Systems (IUSS) Insignias. 

These insignias are awarded to those personnel who have been trained and qualified in surface warfare and naval sonar and undersea surveillance technology. 

Adams, is the daughter of Mrs. Betty Jean White from Sandersville, Georgia.
