Medford Lakes native promoted in rank

(BREMERTON, Wash.) - A 2012 Shawnee High School graduate and Medford Lakes, New Jersey, native was promoted to the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class in the U.S. Navy during a promotion ceremony held at Naval Base Kitsap Bangor, Washington.

Petty Officer Alaina M. Growney-Cardwell, currently serving for two years, is an aviation boatswain’s mate (aircraft handler) serving as the building manager with Fleet & Family Readiness Unaccompanied Housing office, Naval Base Kitsap (NBK) Bremerton, Washington.


Aviation Boatswain's Mates specializes in launching and recovering naval aircraft quickly and safely from land or ships. It includes aircraft preparation and fueling prior to takeoff and after landing, as well as fire-fighting and salvage and rescue operations.

NBK serves as the host command for the Navy’s fleet throughout the Pacific Northwest, providing exceptional installation services, programs, and facilities to meet the needs of its hosted war-fighting commands, tenant activities, and personnel – all of whom deserve the best there is to offer 24/7.


She is the daughter of Tina Growney of Medford Lakes, New Jersey and wife of Justin Cardwell of Naval Base Kitsap, Washington.
