(Atsugi, Japan) - A 2002 Baker City High School graduate and and Baker City, Oregon, native received the 2017 Senior Sailor of the Year award.
Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Christopher Brown, an aviation electrician's mate, received the award serving at Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron Five One (HSM-51) located at Naval Air Facility, Atsugi, Japan.
As an aviation electrician's mate, Brown is responsible for a wide range of electrical and navigational equipment in aircraft including power distribution systems and generators.
HSM-51 "WARLORDS" is a Navy helicopter squadron specialized in anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare as well as search and rescue and executive transport.
Brown is the son of Glenda and James Jensen of Baker City, Oregon.
