(NORFOLK, Va.) - Ms. Sharon Anderson, a Buffalo, New
York, native recently received the Navy
Meritorious Civilian Service award working for Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center
(SSC) Atlantic located in Norfolk, Virginia, during a ceremony held at Naval Station Norfolk.
"Working for the U.S. Navy is an honor and privilege,” said Anderson. “I am humbled and grateful to be recognized with this award and to work with outstanding public affairs and information warfare professionals across both the departments of the Navy and Defense."
Anderson
has worked for SSC Atlantic for nearly 18 years and as a Navy civilian for 30
years. She holds a master's degree in journalism from Regent University and
serves as senior editor of CHIPS, the Department of the Navy’s information
technology magazine.
Anderson received the award in lieu of her leadership of the CHIPS
program for 17 of its 35 years as the Department of the Navy's IT magazine.
Through your steadfast leadership, creativity and journalistic excellence,
CHIPS readership has steadily grown to 6,343,488 readers in 2016.
