Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Joshua Zang, a 12-year veteran and a member of the 2002 graduating class of Rowlett High School was recently named Senior Sailor of the Year for his work as an Operations Leading Petty Officer for Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads Security Department. Zang is responsible for maintaining and continuing security operations for NSA Hampton Roads, Lafayette River Annex, and South Depot Annex.
"This award is not just a recognition for my hard work, but the sacrifices of my wife and children as well as the efforts of the Sailors I work with. Without their support I would not be where I am today," said Zang. "Serving in the Navy has helped me become more disciplined as well as learn how to push myself to the limit and to recognize when I have reached that limit and ask for help." Zang is currently enrolled in American Military University for a Bachelor’s of Science in Applied Mathematics."My favorite part of being in the Navy is the opportunities I get to help guide and develop new Sailors. To watch Sailors grow and learn how to become an efficient and cohesive team is a very rewarding experience," Zang added.
