Dahlgren, Va. – The Center for Surface Combat Systems (CSCS) recently announced Chief Petty Officer Garet Morris, an Everett, Wash. native, as CSCS Senior Enlisted Instructor of the Year.
As a CSCS Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center (FLEASWTRACEN) Instructor, Morris teaches Tomahawk Strike Manager (TSM), Tactical Tomahawk Watch Officer (TTWO), and Cruise Missile Command Course (CMCC).
“I am humble to be selected for this domain-wide honor,” he said.
Morris enjoys having a direct impact on Sailors and the level of knowledge in the fleet.
“I value the exposure to different perspectives coming from numerous commands and regions in the world and then being able to share those experiences with future students. I believe this is so essential because we can, in real time, continue to learn and be a central hub of knowledge for both the newer generation of Sailors and the old guard who desire to expand and improve their technical and tactical expertise,” he explained.
Morris’ instructional method is outstanding but his passion for teaching and learning itself have made him a true example for all to follow.
“The schoolhouse is where our Navy journey begins and will continue to play a crucial role in our naval careers so that we have the level of knowledge and skills to maintain sea superiority,” he said.
Headquartered in Dahlgren, Va., CSCS develops and delivers surface ship combat systems training to achieve surface warfare superiority. CSCS headquarters' staff oversees 14 learning sites and detachments located throughout the continental United States, Hawaii, and Japan and manages and operates a Naval Education and Training Command (NETC) training division in Rota, Spain. CSCS provides over 538 courses, awards 114 different Navy Enlisted Classifications (NECs), and trains over 38,000 Sailors a year.
