Fenton Marine earns wings of gold
Fenton native joins aviator community after receiving wings of gold NAS WHITING FIELD - 1st Lt. John Marino is the Marine Corps newest naval aviator after receiving wings of gold with a warm welcome into the aviation community during a winging ceremony held at Naval Air Station Whiting Field located near Milton, Florida. Marino trained with the "Vigilant Eagles" of Helicopter Training Squadron EIGHTEEN (HT-18). Naval aviators must complete several months of courses and evaluations, along with the completion of successful flight hours to earn their corresponding wings. Pilots must be fully proficient in their aircraft platform to earn their wings and be recognized as members of the aviation community. Marino is a graduate of De Smet Jesuit High School in St. Louis
