JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Chakene Rogers, right, an Andrew Jackson High School graduate and Jacksonville, Florida, native, was selected as Reserve Junior Sailor of the Quarter, 1st Quarter FY2019, for Navy Operational Support Center (NOSC) Jacksonville, serving at Command Navy Region South East Regional Center (CNRSE ROC).
Rogers, an operations specialist, is responsible for operating radar, navigation, and communications equipment in combat information centers on the ship's bridge and detecting and tracking ships, aircraft, and missiles.
NOSC Jacksonville is one of the largest Reserve Centers in the United States, with over 2,400 Sailors, making this accomplishment very competitive.
NOSC's are responsible for the mobilization and demobilization process for both individual augmentees and unit deployments and supports the families of those Reserve Sailors deployed in support of military operations worldwide.
CNRSE ROC manages and oversees shore installation management support and execution for 15 installations within the Southeastern United States and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. It serves as the single responsible office, advocate, and point of contact for Navy installations; to provide consistent, effective, and efficient shore installation services and support to sustain and improve current and future fleet readiness and mission execution.
Rogers currently studies at the University of North Florida, pursuing a degree in exercise science.
