Sebastian Native Serves at Navy Operational Support Center Pearl Harbor

by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class William J. Blees

PEARL HARBOR – A 2016 Sebastian River High School graduate and Fellsmire, Florida, native is serving at Navy Operational Support Center (NOSC) Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Jasmine Roman, a personnel specialist, is responsible for maintaining and entering data into enlisted service records, providing enlisted with information and counseling about Navy occupations, provide pay and entitlement information to individual members, and more.

“We generate mobilization readiness by providing admin services, training support, and world class customer service,” Roman said. “We also ensure that all military personnel receive their pay in a timely manner.”

Roman has been able to experience a lot of unique opportunities in the Navy, but one stands out the most.

“I was able to have lunch with the Vice President of the United States as a reward for achieving Blue Jacket of the Quarter,” Roman said.

Achieving Blue Jacket of the Quarter is one of many ways for Sailors to stand out amongst their peers.

The Blue Jacket of the Quarter recognizes the very best all-around Sailors in paygrades E-1 through E-4. Sustained superior performance, leadership, self-improvement, command and community involvement, self-expression, military bearing, and appearance are all key facets of the best all-around Sailors.

Though Roman isn’t close to home, she is grateful for the opportunity to travel and the memories she has made.

“I joined the Navy to travel and be part of something bigger than myself,” Roman said. “I have enjoyed the opportunity to meet a lot of great leaders and learn from them.”

NOSC Pearl Harbor provides support to more than 30 reserve units comprised of more than 500 Sailors. These units provide strategic depth to operational staffs, intelligence units, construction battalions, and medical facilities around the Pacific theater of operations.
