Name: Sean Gantose

High School (year graduated): Cloverleaf High School in Seville, Ohio (2014)

Rank: Petty Officer 1st Class

Rating (Job): Cyber Warfare Technician

Years in Navy: 9

Current Duty Location: Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command Suffolk, Virginia

Reason for joining the Navy: Family history of military service. "My father served in the Navy, along with many grandparents and great-grandparents who served in the military as well," said Gantose. "I joined to serve my country as those have before me."

Favorite part of job: "My favorite part about being a cyber warfare technician is being able to do offensive and defensive operations to ensure national security is maintained," said Gantose.

Lessons learned from hometown: Appreciate the little things in life. "Growing up, I might not have been able to get "this" or "that," but was always happy for the things I did get," said Gantose. "This helped me through the Navy because whenever situations might not go the way we want them to, I'm able to just brush it off and keep pushing through."

Proudest accomplishment since serving in the Navy: "Being hand-selected for a 10th fleet mission to provide critical information gathering and analyzing," said Gantose.

Service in the Navy: "Serving in the Navy is great," said Gantose. "I get to travel to places I wouldn't have thought of going, and I get to meet new people and learn their cultures."

Additional information: "The Navy is also the reason that I met my wife and have a beautiful daughter," added Ganotse. "Everything happens for a reason, and the best thing to do is to keep looking forward to what life brings you next, instead of holding yourself back by dwelling on the past."
