By Megan Brown, Navy Office of Community Outreach

MILLINGTON. Tenn. – Ensign Yunsung Lee, a native of Crestline, California, recently received an award for their performance while training to join the Navy Supply Corps.

Lee graduated from Rim of the World High School in 2014. Additionally, Lee earned a bachelor's degree in 2021 and a Master's of Business Administration in 2024 from National University.

Lee, 1st Battalion, Class 24010, received the Navy Supply Corps Foundation Leadership Award while attending the Basic Qualification Course (BQC), at Naval Supply Corps School, in Newport, Rhode Island. Lee graduated from the course on Mar. 29th.

Considered to be one of the Navy’s greatest assets, supply officers must first train and be mentored at Naval Supply Corps School. Before any type of extraordinary achievement, the students must first pass a rigorous course structure to become a Navy supply officer.

Lee joined the Navy eight years ago and today serves as a supply officer.

Navy supply officers ensure sailors have the tools and equipment they need to deter any threat and maintain warfighting readiness.

In addition to receiving this award, Lee has earned many other achievements throughout their career. These include:  a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (NAM) in 2017 for a successful deployment, a NAM in 2022 for the successful end of a tour, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (MOVSM) in 2022 for completing 450 volunteer hours at local communities in San Diego and a NAM in 2023 for the successful end of a tour.

"Successfully completing my first deployment as one of most junior sailors on board and being recognized by the ship meant a lot to me and is one of the main reasons I wanted to make the Navy a career," said Lee. "I am proud of the MOVSM because it meant a lot to me to be recognized by peers and the command for volunteering at local communities. There are also not a lot of volunteering opportunities, so that made me proud to be a part of it. Lastly, I am proud of my NAM in 2023 because as I was completing my tour, I was transitioning to Officer Training Command to become an officer."

With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.

Lee serves a Navy that operates far forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation’s prosperity and security.

The mission of Naval Supply Corps School is to provide students with the personal and professional foundations for success. This mission lends itself to the vision of the school, which is to ensure all supply corps officer graduates are prepared to provide global logistics support to the Navy.

Once these service members finish training, they are deployed around the world putting their skill set to work.

Lee is assigned to serve with USS Makin Island, homeported in San Diego.
