Ventura native supports U.S. Navy Osprey squadron

SAN DIEGO - Airman Zachary Bozman, a native of Ventura, California, serves the U.S. Navy assigned to Fleet Logistics Multi-Mission Squadron (VRM) 30.

Bozman graduated from Saugus High School in 2011.

The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Ventura.

“I learned in my hometown the importance of being compassionate,” said Bozman. “The Navy is very diverse so you have to maneuver an eco-system of youth on one side and age the other. It takes patience, understanding and compassion to understand both sides and to have successful teams.”

Bozman joined the Navy two years ago. Today, Bozman serves as an aviation electronics technician.

“I joined the Navy for the educational benefits,” said Bozman.

Members of VRM 30 fly and maintain the CMV-22B Osprey, a vertical takeoff and landing tilt-rotor aircraft. VRM aircraft have increased operational range, faster cargo loading and unloading, increased survivability and enhanced communications compared to the C-2A Greyhound.

With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.

“We will earn and reinforce the trust and confidence of the American people every day,” said Adm. Lisa Franchetti, Chief of Naval Operations. “Together we will deliver the Navy the nation needs.”

Bozman has many opportunities to achieve accomplishments during military service.

“I am most proud of earning my Plane Captain qualification and being a candidate for Blue Jacket of the Quarter at VRM 30,” said Bozman. “I am proud of earning that qualification because I did it in record time and it has allowed me to expedite my progression at this command and in my Navy career. I am proud of being nominated for Blue Jacket of the Quarter because it shows that my hard work is not going unnoticed. It is nice to be recognized for that.”

Bozman serves a Navy that operates far forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation's prosperity and security.

“Serving in the Navy means stability,” said Bozman. “It has created financial stability for me and I know I don’t have to worry about losing my job.”

Bozman is grateful to others for helping make a Navy career possible.

“I want to thank my leadership Aviation Electronics Technician 1st Class Wetteland, Aviation Electronics Technician 1st Class Madden, Aviation Electronics Technician 1st Class Dowden and Aviation’s Ecetrican’s Mate Batar for giving me the proper guidance to be successful at my job,” added Bozman.
