Gregoire graduated from Trinity High School in 2014. Additionally, Gregoire earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 2018.
The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in New Cumberland.
“New Cumberland is a relatively small town where everyone knows everyone and is willing to lend a hand whenever someone is in need,” Gregoire said. "I think that mindset has continued with me and has been instrumental in helping me get to know my sailors on a personal level beyond simple work interactions."
Gregoire joined the Navy six and a half years ago. Today, Gregoire serves as a pilot.
“I joined the Navy because I was looking for a way to help pay for my college education,” Gregoire said. “I also found myself interested in the various missions of the Navy as well as the potential for personal and professional growth.”
Members of HSM-35 fly and maintain the MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter, the Navy’s most advanced rotary wing maritime strike platform. The Navy MH-60R is able to perform many different missions. Some of the most common operations include strikes on maritime targets, submarine hunting and attack, electronic warfare, search and rescue, medical evacuations and supply support.
The U.S. Navy is celebrating its 250th birthday this year.
According to Navy officials, “America is a maritime nation and for 250 years, America’s Warfighting Navy has sailed the globe in defense of freedom.”
With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.
Gregoire has many opportunities to achieve accomplishments during military service.
“This past year my peers selected me as the HSM 35 Pilot of the Year,” Gregoire said. "I am extremely proud of this honor because we have an exceptionally talented wardroom of pilots who are all incredibly high performers and they collectively felt that I was the best example of what we all train to be."
Gregoire serves a Navy that operates far forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation's prosperity and security.
“Being in the Navy is a privilege because I get to serve a cause bigger than myself,” Gregoire said. "The idea that everyone I see at work has volunteered to take on the various challenges and face them head-on is inspiring and continues to motivate me to perform at my highest level."
Gregoire is grateful to others for helping make a Navy career possible.“I want to thank my parents, Neil and Anne, for their never-ending love and support,” Gregoire added. "I also want to thank all my flight school instructors for their patience while training me. Lastly, I want to thank all the past and present HSM 35 pilots for believing in me and helping me become the officer I am today.”
