Adams graduated from Catholic High School in 2016. Adams earned a bachelor’s degree in business in 2020 from the University of Arkansas.
The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Little Rock.
“I learned from my Junior ROTC instructor, Scott Jernigan, the importance of having a strong work ethic,” Adams said. "I also learned how small things help you prepare for the big things.”
Adams joined the Navy four years ago. Today, Adams serves as a naval aircrewman (helicopter).
“I joined the Navy to expand my horizons,” Adams said.
Members of HSC-5 fly and maintain the MH-60S Knighthawk helicopter within Carrier Air Wing SEVEN (CVW-7). The MH-60S's primary missions are Search and Rescue, Naval Special Warfare Support and Anti-Surface Warfare. Additional missions include logistic support, vertical replenishment, medical evacuation, non-combatant evacuation operations and maritime interdiction operations. In short, HSC-5 "Rescues, Protects and Delivers!"
The U.S. Navy is celebrating its 250th birthday this year.
According to Navy officials, “America is a maritime nation and for 250 years, America’s Warfighting Navy has sailed the globe in defense of freedom.”
With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.
Adams has many opportunities to achieve accomplishments during his military service.
“I am most proud of meeting new people and the friends I have made throughout my career because that is what made it all worth it for me,” Adams said. “Without them, none of this would have been worth it.”
Adams serves a Navy that operates far forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation's prosperity and security.
“Serving in the Navy means sacrifice through giving up time with loved ones and other goals for the protection of the United States,” Adams said.
Adams is grateful to others for helping make a Navy career possible.“I want to thank my mom, Michele Purifoy, for everything she has sacrificed for me and for all her support throughout my career,” Adams added. "I also want to thank my uncle, Craig Renaud, for showing me what's possible and for supporting my goals. Lastly, I thank my brother, Taylor Adams, for paving the way for me. He is also serving in the Navy and he inspired me to join with his service.”
