Memphis Native receives Sailor of the Month Commendation Award

BAHRAIN - Navy Petty Officer First Class Marlin Wren (left), a Memphis, Tennessee, native received the Sailor of the Month Commendation Award for his outstanding work supporting Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) Bahrain with their various IT issues and access to documentation.

Wren is an information systems technician responsible for network administration, database management and computer hardware, and operating and maintaining Navy global satellite telecommunications systems. Additionally, he is the CMF Coalition Coordination Center Leading Petty Officer mentoring and leading sailors within the command.

When asked what he enjoys most about being on deployment, Wren said, "I like meeting and interacting with people from around the world, and this command is always ready for whatever challenge comes our way."

CMF Bahrain is a multi-national naval partnership, which exists to promote security, stability and prosperity across 3.2 million square miles of international waters. CMF's main focus areas are defeating terrorism, preventing piracy, encouraging regional cooperation, and promoting a safe maritime environment.

During Wren's illustrious career, he has received various medals for his exemplary service and devotion to duty. 

Five Good Conduct Medals, three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, two Meritorious Unit Commendations with one Joint Service Commendation Medal, two Global War on Terrorism Medals, two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, one Iraq Campaign Medal, Navy "E" Ribbon, Military Outstanding Volunteer Medal and Flag Letter of Commendation.

Wren's hobbies and interests include playing basketball, watching Marvel movies and achieving a higher education.
