FALLON, Nev. - Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Andrea K. Parmenter, a 2010 graduate of Currituck County High School in North Carolina and native of Maui, Hawaii, was named Junior Sailor of the Quarter serving with Naval Munitions Command CONUS West Division Detachment (NMCPAC CWD Det) Fallon in Naval Air Station Fallon, Nevada.

Parmenter, with over six years of Naval service, is an aviation ordnanceman responsible for the documentation and tracking of ordnance in support of carrier air wing detachments, individual squadron detachments and ten tenant commands. Additional duties include: expenditure manager, forklift driver, duty armorer and truck inspector.
"I’m excited and proud to say I received this award, especially since I just hit my one-year mark at this command and it shows me that hard work does pay off," Parmenter said. "I could not have done it without my chain of command and fellow sailors support. Shout out to everyone who has supported me in my past and now, if it wasn’t for the people in my life I would not have had been able to be where I’m at today. This award teaches me that hard work does pay off and I'm grateful for the opportunity that was presented to me."
Sailor of the Quarter nominations are given to sailors who have displayed outstanding personal conduct and military bearing while performing superiorly, both professionally and personally.
NMCPAC CWD Det Fallon, provides Integrated Tactical Air Warfare Training support to carrier air wing detachments, strike fighter advanced readiness program detachments, special warfare groups and resident commands.
Serving in the Navy has molded Parmenter into a leader and she continues to develop essential traits needed for success both professionally and personally.

"Being in the Navy has definitely improved who I’ve become," Parmenter said. "Being in different environments and learning how to adapt, I have learned how things in everyday life changes and I have to make it work. My work ethic has improved drastically in learning different skills to perform my job better. I’ve had a lot of experiences good and bad but I will always take the good and apply it to my life. I’m grateful for the good and bad times being in the Navy, and appreciate even more the people the Navy has brought me to meet in my time being in."
Parmenter is currently attending Vincennes University for an associate's degree in general studies. After graduation, her goal is to pursue a bachelor's degree in customs.
