Maui Native Reenlists in U.S. Navy

(FALLON, Nev.) - Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Andrea K. Parmenter, a 2010 graduate of Currituck County High School in North Carolina and native of Maui, Hawaii, reenlisted for six years in the U.S. Navy.

Parmenter, with over six years of Naval service, is an aviation ordnanceman serving with Naval Munitions Command CONUS West Division Detachment (NMCPAC CWD Det) Fallon in Naval Air Station Fallon, Nevada.

As an aviation ordnanceman, Parmenter, is responsible for the documentation and tracking of ordnance in support of carrier air wing detachments, individual squadron detachments and ten tenant commands. Additional duties include: expenditure manager, forklift driver, duty armorer and truck inspector.

"I'm excited to see what the future of re-enlisting has for me and me making the best of it I can," Parmenter said. "I'm excited to grow and to excel in everything I do in the Navy."

NMCPAC CWD Det Fallon, provides Integrated Tactical Air Warfare Training support to carrier air wing detachments, strike fighter advanced readiness program detachments, special warfare groups and resident commands.

Serving in the Navy has molded Parmenter into a leader and she continues to develop essential traits needed for success both professionally and personally.

"Serving in the military has made me grow as a person professionally and personally, and it's made me appreciate the more important things in my life," Parmenter said. "I’m looking forward into growing into a leader where hopefully other sailors will want to work with me."


Parmenter's father, Paul Parmenter, a retired U.S. Navy Seal, performed the oath of reenlistment.

Parmenter is currently attending Vincennes University for an associate's degree in general studies. After graduation, her goal is to pursue a bachelor's degree in customs.
