Bronx sailor reenlists in U.S. Navy

Petty Officer 1st Class Olusegun Bandele, from Bronx, New York, took an important step in his career, to continue his service in the U.S. Navy. Bandele, originally from Sierra Leone, Africa, reenlisted on August 22 for five more years of service.

He is currently serving as a personnel specialist with the Military Entrance Processing Station Baltimore at Fort George G. Meade in Maryland.







He and his family moved to Bronx in 2002. He joined the Navy in 2004 after graduating from Monroe College.

According to Navy officials, Bandele witnessed the 9/11 attacks and it motivated him to join, in addition to his desire to continue his family's tradition of military service, as well as serve the nation that provided him a new home and offered education.
