Norwalk Native Promoted to Navy Chief Petty Officer

NORFOLK, VA (NSN) – A Norwalk, Ohio, native and Norwalk High School graduate was promoted to the rank of Navy chief petty officer.

Navy Chief Adrian Childers is an electrician’s mate assigned to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, Virginia. He is responsible for operating and performing organizational and intermediate maintenance on power and lighting circuits, electrical fixtures, motors, generators, voltage and frequency regulators, controllers, distribution switchboards and other electrical equipment; tests for short circuits and grounds; and rebuilding electrical equipment, including solid-state circuitry elements.

Chief Childers joins 16 other MARMC Sailors who earned their chief anchors, a milestone in a Sailor’s career and a prestigious tradition that goes back 126 years.

MARMC is home to more than 1,500 Sailors who provide surface ship maintenance, management and oversight of private sector maintenance and fleet technical assistance to ships in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States and support the 5th and 6th fleet areas of responsibilities.
