Navy Chief James Murtha is a gas turbine systems electrician assigned to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, Virginia. He is responsible for operating, repairing and performing organizational and intermediate maintenance on electrical components of gas turbine engines, main propulsion machinery, auxiliary equipment and propulsion control systems.
Chief Murtha joins 16 other MARMC Sailors who earned their chief anchors, a milestone in a Sailor’s career and a prestigious tradition that goes back 126 years.
MARMC is home to more than 1,500 Sailors who provide surface ship maintenance, management and oversight of private sector maintenance and fleet technical assistance to ships in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States and support the 5th and 6th fleet areas of responsibilities.
