Delano Native Named "Sailor in the Spotlight"

By Rick Burke, Navy Office of Community Outreach

SAN DIEGO - Petty Officer 1st Class Eusebio Del Rosario, a native of Delano, California, was named "Sailor in the Spotlight" serving at Commander, Mine Division (COMMINEDIV) Twelve in San Diego.

"Sailor in the Spotlight" shows recognition to those sailors around us that are continuously working hard and staying motivated during everyday tasks.

Del Rosario is a Navy information systems technician (IT), who is responsible for being a system administrator and leading petty officer for 30 sailors in transition to commands in Sasebo and Bahrain.

"What I enjoy most is the camaraderie that I share with my fellow sailors, it me makes me feel like I'm part of a family," Del Rosario said.

COMMINEDIV Twelve maintains oversight of manning, training, equipment and maintaining functions for the LCS mine division and warfighting and readiness requirements; and coordinates with provider organizations for products and services to support the ships employment and concept of operations in support of combatant commander, Navy component commander, and numbered fleet commander mission requirements.

Del Rosario is a 2001 Delano High School graduate. According to Del Rosario, the values required to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Delano.

"I worked in agriculture and being able to work out in the fields when I was younger, gave me the experience of hard work," Del Rosario said.

Though there are many ways for sailors to earn distinction in their command, community and career, Del Rosario is most proud of choosing to be an information systems technician.

"It gives me great future career opportunities and in the Navy, I enjoy helping my fellow sailors complete daily tasks," Del Rosario said.

"IT1 Del Rosario is a hardworking and helpful petty officer and does a great job at the command," said Lt. Lara Yamada. "Working with sailors in a time of transition is critical for their success and we are lucky to have him."

As a member of the U.S. Navy, Del Rosario, as well as other sailors, know they are a part of a service tradition providing unforgettable experiences through leadership development, world affairs and humanitarian assistance. Their efforts will have a lasting effect around the globe and for generations of sailors who will follow.

“I'm serving my country with pride and honor," Del Rosario said.
