Lexington Sailor reports to Training Support Center Hampton Roads

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.- A 2001 Lafayette High School and Lexington, Kentucky, native recently reported to Training Support Center Hampton Roads.

Lt. Fielding Isaacs, also a 2005 Transylvania University graduate, has served in the Navy for 10 years.

“I wanted to serve my country while making the most of my background in physics,” said Isaacs. “The Navy nuclear propulsion program seemed like the best fit. From day to day my duties can vary between those and fireman, lawyer, inspector, quality engineer, and project manager.”

Training Support Center Hampton Roads provides centralized U.S. Navy and international student military training and management, facility support, information technology, security support, business resource and logistics support, and fleet liaison and quota control to Naval Education and Training Command activities in the Hampton Roads area of responsibility.

“I am confident that we will maximize the Navy we have today while delivering the Navy that our nation will rely upon tomorrow,” said Adm. Mike Gilday, Chief of Naval Operations. “We will do so with urgency. Our fleet will be a potent, formidable force that competes around the world every day, deterring those who would challenge us while reassuring our allies and partners.”

According to Navy officials, maintaining maritime superiority is a vital part of a Navy that is present today and prepared for tomorrow. The impact affects Americans and their interests around the world, as more than 70 percent of the Earth is covered by water and 90 percent of all trade travels by sea.

The foundation of the Navy the nation needs includes a focus on warfighting, warfighters and the future of the fighting force.

“I get the chance to help shape sailors fresh out of boot camp and make the command the best place possible for their transition into the military,” said Isaacs.

As a member of the U.S. Navy, Isaacs, as well as other sailors, know they are a part of a service tradition providing unforgettable experiences through leadership development, world affairs and humanitarian assistance. Their efforts will have a lasting effect around the globe and for generations of sailors who will follow.

“Serving in the Navy means working every day towards upholding the constitutional values of freedom and democracy from the sea,” added Isaacs. “The Navy has taught me that character and integrity are the foundation of all human endeavors. We have to be able to trust each other and work towards being better at doing good in everything we do.”
