Bristolville native named Naval Sea Logistics Center Culture Champion of the Year

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - A Bristolville, Ohio, native was named Naval Sea Logistics Center (NAVSEALOGCEN) Culture Champion of the Year for outstanding professionalism, personal initiative and loyal devotion to duty.

Ms. Michelle L. Skilbred, a 1990 Bristolville High School graduate, serves as division director for over 150 employees for NSLC Newport and NSLC Keyport. This position also requires direct interaction with partner Warfare Center leadership and PEO senior leadership on a daily basis.

“I feel very honored to have been awarded such an important award. This award belongs to my team who worked to support inclusion and diversity within our command and it belongs to my leadership who consistently us to value and respect each other. encourages," said Skilbred.

Displaying outstanding initiative, Ms. Skilbred made it her mission to create a culture of inclusion, diversity, and empowerment. She facilitated Command Listening Sessions designed to improve communication on sensitive topics impacting morale, including race, gender, and COVID-19 response; she championed a barrier analysis team to improve recruiting and promotion opportunities for women; and she drove accountability and civility into each personal engagement at each of her warehouse operations sites.

“I really enjoy the people and the mission. Together my staff and my customer support the greatest Navy in the world. It gives me great pride to know we are making a difference in our Nations National Defense," said Skilbred.

NAVSEALOGCEN Mechanicsburg serves as the Naval Sea Technical Agent for developing, maintaining, assessing, and executing life cycle logistics support products, processes, information systems, and policies that enable customers to meet their stated operational objectives and maintain readiness. They combine logistics, engineering, and information technology expertise to produce logistics tools which can be utilized by Acquisition Managers and Logistics Element Managers in an Integrated Data Environment.
