PENSACOLA, Fla. – Airman Recruit William Demuth, a native of Wheeling, Illinois, serves the U.S. Navy at Naval Air Technical Training Center (NATTC) in Pensacola, Florida.
As a student at NATTC, Demuth is serving among sailors and Marines developing the skills needed to be successful naval aviation warfighters.
Students at NATTC are taught the requirements and skills needed to be successful in their new careers.
Demuth joined the Navy six months ago.
“I went to college and it wasn’t a good fit for me,” said Demuth. “I always wanted to join the military and the Navy offered a lot of opportunities, which is why I joined.”
According to Demuth, the values required to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Wheeling.
“Growing up, my parents always taught me to be responsible,” said Demuth. “If I was told to be somewhere, I was there early and if I needed to do something, I made sure I did it to the best of my ability.”
NATTC’s mission is to provide world class professional aviation warriors to the Navy fleet supporting combat readiness anywhere on the globe, while taking good care of our people, families and being good neighbors and stewards in the city of Pensacola and the surrounding region.
The training center’s leaders and experts develop, deliver and leverage technology to optimize performance of our Navy, Marine Corps and foreign national students. We provide the most up-to-date and relevant training available to our sailors and Marines ensuring Naval aviation’s success.
Serving in the Navy means Demuth is part of a team that is taking on new importance in America’s focus on rebuilding military readiness, strengthening alliances and reforming business practices in support of the National Defense Strategy.
“The Navy is important to national security because the world looks to us since we can prevent our adversary from doing harm to our country and its allies,” said Demuth.
Demuth and the sailors they serve with have many opportunities to achieve accomplishments during their military service.
“So far, I’m most proud of graduating first in my class here at A school,” said Demuth. “I didn’t know much about this career field before I got here, so I’m proud of being successful so far.”
As Demuth and other sailors continue to train and perform the mission they are tasked with, they take pride in serving their country in the United States Navy.
“Serving in the Navy means that I’m able to keep my friends and family safe,” added Demuth. “It gives me a purpose and makes me feel like I’m contributing something to this country.
