Sailor wishes mother in Bartow a happy Mother’s Day

By Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Keith Nowak

MILLINGTON, Tenn. – Petty Officer 1st Class Alexander Boston serving in the United States Navy wishes their mother, Nadine Boston, in Bartow, Florida, a happy Mother’s Day.

Sailors help maintain America’s advantage at sea. This means they do not always get to celebrate holidays with their loved ones. Boston wants their mother to know they are missed this Mother’s Day.

“Happy Mother’s Day, I love you,” said Boston. "Thank you for showing me what hard work and sacrifice look like and thanks for the words of encouragement. I hope you have the best day ever."

Boston serves as a personnel specialist aboard the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, USS Carney, operating out of Naval Air Station Mayport, Florida.

With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.

Boston serves a Navy that operates far forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation’s prosperity and security.

“We will earn and reinforce the trust and confidence of the American people every day,” said Adm. Lisa Franchetti, chief of naval operations. “Together we will deliver the Navy the nation needs.”

Boston can take pride in serving America through military service.

“What it means to serve in the Navy is to sacrifice," added Boston. "My family has been my example. I am thankful for the opportunity to develop my skill set and take care of my loved ones."
