MILLINGTON, Tenn. – Petty Officer 3rd Class Hampton Kohn, a Charleston, South Carolina, native serving in the United States Navy wishes their Mother, Lynda Kohn, in Charleston, South Carolina, a happy Mother’s Day.

Sailors help maintain America’s advantage at sea. This means they do not always get to celebrate holidays with their loved ones. Kohn wants their Mother to know they are missed this Mother’s Day.

“I am so thankful to have a wonderful mother like you. I hope I become the man you're proud of. And if I do, I owe a lot of it to you. Love you, mama, stay safe, see you soon,” said Kohn.

Kohn serves as a machinist's mate aboard the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Carney With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.

Kohn serves a Navy that operates far forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation’s prosperity and security.

“We will earn and reinforce the trust and confidence of the American people every day,” said Adm. Lisa Franchetti, chief of naval operations. “Together we will deliver the Navy the nation needs.”
