Beltran graduated from Bronx Latin High School in 2017.

Beltran joined the Navy seven years ago. Today, Beltran serves as a machinist's mate.

“I joined the Navy because I was looking for opportunities to explore other options to improve my life,” said Beltran. “I also wanted to start a career that would provide for me.”

The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in The Bronx.

“Growing up in New York, we didn't have a lot, so I learned the importance of being resilient,” said Beltran. "The resilience I have helps me adapt to any environment I experience in the Navy."

SWRMC is a field activity of Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) that provides superior ship maintenance, modernization, technical support and training for the Pacific Fleet.

According to Navy officials, NAVSEA’s mission is to design, build, deliver and maintain ships, submarines and systems for the U.S. Navy. NAVSEA manages more than 150 acquisition programs and has more than 75,000 civilian and military employees at 33 activities in 16 states and three overseas continents.

With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.

Beltran serves a Navy that operates forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation's prosperity and security.

“We will earn and reinforce the trust and confidence of the American people every day,” said Adm. Lisa Franchetti, chief of naval operations. “Together we will deliver the Navy the nation needs.”

Beltran has many opportunities to achieve accomplishments during military service.

“My proudest accomplishment is making my current rank of second class,” said Beltran. "I worked really hard for it and studied a lot."

Beltran can take pride in serving America through military service.

“Serving in the Navy means everything to me,” said Beltran. "It definitely set me up for success and opened a lot of doors. It's also allowed me to grow into the person I am today."

Beltran is grateful to others for helping make a Navy career possible.

“I want to thank my parents and my siblings back home for always believing in me, even when I didn't believe in myself,” added Beltran. "I also want to thank my wife for supporting me. We're both in the Navy and plan on making it a career."
