Adams graduated from Highlands High School in 2005.

Adams joined the Navy 13 years ago. Today, Adams serves as a gas turbine systems technician (electrical).

“I joined the Navy to be able to travel more,” said Adams. "Where I am from is the entry point into the Air Force. However, I wanted to experience the world more and the Navy travels the most. I also wanted to follow in my family's footsteps. My great-great-grandfather was a Seabee and my father was a hospital corpsman."

The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in San Antonio.

“I learned growing up about perseverance,” said Adams. "It is important to stick with things even when they get difficult."

SWRMC is a field activity of Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) that provides superior ship maintenance, modernization, technical support and training for the Pacific Fleet.

According to Navy officials, NAVSEA’s mission is to design, build, deliver and maintain ships, submarines and systems for the U.S. Navy. NAVSEA manages more than 150 acquisition programs and has more than 75,000 civilian and military employees at 33 activities in 16 states and three overseas continents.

With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.

Adams serves a Navy that operates forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation's prosperity and security.

“We will earn and reinforce the trust and confidence of the American people every day,” said Adm. Lisa Franchetti, chief of naval operations. “Together we will deliver the Navy the nation needs.”

Adams has many opportunities to achieve accomplishments during military service.

“My proudest accomplishment in the Navy is that I am still choosing to continue leading sailors,” said Adams. "I am a part of the type of leadership that treats sailors as individuals, ensuring that they are managing their own work-life balance."

Adams can take pride in serving America through military service.

“Serving in the Navy means being a part of something bigger than myself,” said Adams. "It also means making a difference on global and local levels. Every single person is needed. What you do matters not only to your co-workers but to the mission as a whole."

Adams is grateful to others for helping make a Navy career possible.

“I would like to thank Kris Patrick for being the one to convince me to join the Navy,” added Adams. "I would also like to thank my mom, Yvette, my dad, Carl Robinson, my husband, Todd Adams, and Mary Matthews for their support. I wouldn't be here today without them."
