Millington, Tenn. -Lt. Cmdr. Reagan Pescoso, a native of Baldwin Park, California, serves the U.S. Navy assigned to Naval Medical Readiness Logistics Command.
Pescoso graduated from St. Paul High School in 1991.
The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Baldwin Park.
“When I immigrated to Baldwin Park, California, my goal was to ensure my family was well taken care of. There, I learned to value hard work and dedication,” said Pescoso. "Most of all cherish the times spent with family. I immigrated from Vigan City, Philippines. It was hard to leave behind family and friends knowing that I would not be back for a long time. Arriving in Baldwin Park, California, was a happy moment as it reunited me with my mother and sisters."
Pescoso joined the Navy 19 years ago.
“I joined the Navy for job stability, benefits and to travel the world,” said Pescoso.
With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.
Pescoso serves a Navy that operates far forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation's prosperity and security.
“We will earn and reinforce the trust and confidence of the American people every day,” said Admiral Lisa Franchetti, Chief of Naval Operations. “Together we will deliver the Navy the nation needs.”
Pescoso has many opportunities to achieve accomplishments during military service.
“Collectively, my proudest moment is rising from the ranks,” said Pescoso. "I came in as an enlisted sailor and with dedication and hard work, I have made it to the rank of lieutenant commander. I came in as a storekeeper, which transitioned to logistics specialist. Supply was the only path I wanted to pursue. The most memorable aspect of my transition is becoming a mentor. Being enlisted provided me with a different perspective of things with the experience and knowledge I gained throughout my years in the enlisted ranks. My transition led me to mentor fellow junior officers as well as junior sailors who wanted to pursue the same path I took."
Pescoso can take pride in serving America through military service.
“Serving in the Navy is one of the best decisions I made in my life,” said Pescoso. "It paved the way for me to provide for my family, and honed my skill sets while serving my country honorably."
Pescoso is grateful to others for helping make a Navy career possible.
“My tours in the Navy have taken me all over the world. I served, operated and deployed in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th fleet areas of responsibility,” added Pescoso.
