MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Petty Officer 1st Class Hannah Kay Guymon, a native of Rochester, Illinois, recently received a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for being named 2024 Junior Sailor of the Year (JSOY) for Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) Great Lakes.
JSOY is an accolade given to an exemplary sailor, selected by a board of senior enlisted out of multiple competitive entries, for their accomplishments.
Guymon, a 2017 graduate of Glenwood High School, joined the Navy seven years ago.
"Being named Junior Sailor of the Year means my hard work and dedication to my community is recognized," said Guymon. "I want to thank my leadership and shipmates for helping me as a sailor. It is an honor to be someone junior sailors can look up to. I have worked very hard and will continue to lead and learn in the best way I know possible. During my career, I've received six Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and one for being named USS Hue City Junior Sailor of the Year."
