Sailor sends holiday greetings to Greensboro

By Rick Burke, Navy Office of Community Outreach

MILLINGTON, Tenn. – Sailors provide the Navy the nation needs from around the world. This means they do not always get to celebrate holidays with their loved ones.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Jailyn Nelson, a native of Greensboro, North Carolina, currently serves in the United States Navy aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt, an aircraft carrier operating out of San Diego, California.

"To me the holidays mean family," said Nelson. "Spending time with them is so important to me with me being gone so often. I don’t see them as much as I’d like to, so the holidays are a great opportunity for me to spend time with them."

Nelson wants family back home to know they are missed this holiday season.

"Happy holidays," added Nelson. "I love you and stay safe out there. See you soon!"
