Dailey joined the Navy Reserves 12 years ago.

"I started my Navy career 12 years ago as a damage controlman responsible for maintenance and managing damage on the ship," said Dailey. "In 2017, I transitioned to an engineman, where my primary responsibility is to maintain and repair the ship's propulsion systems. My experiences as a sailor led me to an expeditionary support unit (EPU), traveling to places like Alaska to assist the Army, which allowed me to collaborate across branches, adapt to challenging environments, and contribute to joint missions."

Today, Dailey serves as a recruiter with Navy Recruiting Center (NRC) in New Hampshire.

"Most recently I have been serving as a prior service recruiter assisting in replenishing manning to the Navy Reserves and being a local face in my area," said Dailey. "Alongside these adventures, I’ve pursued further education, both through Navy programs and civilian institutions, to align with my long-term goals. These opportunities have not only enriched my skill set but have also fueled my ambition to keep growing, whether it’s through advancing my military career, excelling in civilian roles, or achieving personal milestones."

NRC’s mission is to recruit the highest caliber sailors to meet the needs of the Fleet. The goal of the command is to attract the highest quality candidates to assure the ongoing success of America's Navy.

As an elementary school teacher, Dailey has developed skills that translate seamlessly to his role in the Navy Reserves.

"Teaching requires patience, adaptability, and strong leadership, all of which are essential in a military setting," said Dailey. "Managing a classroom of young learners has honed my ability to communicate clearly, solve problems under pressure, and work collaboratively with a diverse group of individuals. These same skills help me excel in the Navy Reserves, where teamwork and effective leadership are critical. Additionally, the discipline and organizational skills I practice daily in my teaching career prepare me to balance the demands of both professions, ensuring I can serve my community both in the classroom and in uniform."

The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in his hometown.

"Growing up in southeast Iowa, I knew I wanted more than what my small hometown could offer," said Dailey. "Right out of high school, I joined the Navy to create opportunities for myself that extended far beyond the familiar. The Navy promised access to a college education, the chance to see the world, and a path to a meaningful career—all things I couldn’t easily achieve staying where I was. I wanted to challenge myself, gain independence, and be part of something bigger than myself. Enlisting wasn’t just a decision; it was a commitment to building a future with endless possibilities."

Dailey can take pride in serving America through military service.

"The Navy Reserves has profoundly shaped me into a better teacher, father, husband and community member," said Dailey. "Serving in the reserves has strengthened my discipline, resilience and ability to adapt. These qualities also enhance my teaching by helping me inspire and lead my students effectively. It’s also taught me the value of balance and time management, enabling me to be more present and engaged as a father and husband."

"The Navy’s emphasis on service and teamwork has deepened my commitment to my community, motivating me to give back and lead by example," added Dailey. "These experiences have made me more patient, understanding, and determined in all areas of my life, creating a ripple effect of growth and positivity."
