Green graduated from Daleville High School in 2019.
The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Enterprise.
“I learned the value of respect and camaraderie,” Green said. "I learned that a positive mindset is what can make or break a day. Perspective is everything and being able to maintain a smile throughout deployment was essential.”
Green joined the Navy four years ago. Today, Green serves as a retail services specialist.
“I wanted a change in scenery and I wanted to experience new opportunities,” Green said. "I wanted to experience more of what the world had to offer. One day after class I received a message from a recruiter. After arriving at the office I instantly felt aligned with the mission and opportunities of the Navy. The job I selected aligned with my strengths in communication and provided an outlet to utilize my skillset."
Aircraft carriers are the centerpiece of America’s Naval forces. For more than 100 years, they have projected power, sustained sea control, bolstered deterrence, provided humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, and maintained enduring commitments worldwide.
According to Navy officials, aircraft carriers are versatile and have unique mission capabilities that make them a more strategic asset for the Navy than fixed-site bases. They are often the first response in a global crisis because of their ability to operate freely in international waters anywhere on the world’s oceans. In addition, no other weapon system can deploy and operate forward with a full-sized aircraft carrier’s speed, endurance, agility and combat capability of its air wing.
The U.S. Navy is celebrating its 250th birthday this year.
According to Navy officials, “America is a maritime nation and for 250 years, America’s Warfighting Navy has sailed the globe in defense of freedom.”
With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.
Green has many opportunities to achieve accomplishments during military service.
“My proudest accomplishment is my contributions to this command,” Green said. "I have contributed in various capacities with this command, such as career counseling, being the SAPR representative, VP of Organizations and training petty officer. I was able to contribute and make a positive impact on those around me."
Green serves a Navy that operates far forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation's prosperity and security.
“Serving in the Navy means new beginnings,” Green said. "Every quarter something new happens. There are new challenges, people and places. I have had the opportunity to pursue new opportunities everywhere I go. Growing up I was in a small town, and I never imagined I would get to see so many different places with so many different people."
Green is grateful to others for helping make a Navy career possible.
“I would like to thank my mom for the support right away,” Green added. "My mom provided immediate support even before I made my decision to join. My recruiter, my mentors and my peers provided the resources for me to succeed throughout my journey in the Navy. From Master Chief Green's outstanding mentorship to LSC Chavez's guidance, I wouldn't be where I am today without all the support from those around me.”
