King graduated from Hudson High School in 2006.

The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Hudson.

“Growing up, I learned the importance of teamwork,” King said. “In the Navy, we employ our assets as teams every day. I learned from my hometown how to work cohesively in the service of others, something I carry forward in the Navy every day.”

King joined the Navy 14 years ago. Today, King serves as a pilot.

“I joined the Navy because it seemed interesting, and I wanted to see life outside of Ohio,” King said.

Members of HSM-49 fly and maintain the MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter, the Navy’s most advanced rotary wing maritime strike platform. The Navy MH-60R is able to perform many different missions. Some of the most common operations include strikes on maritime targets, submarine hunting and attack, electronic warfare, search and rescue, medical evacuations and supply support.

The U.S. Navy is celebrating its 250th birthday this year.

According to Navy officials, “America is a maritime nation and for 250 years, America’s Warfighting Navy has sailed the globe in defense of freedom.”

With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.

King has many opportunities to achieve accomplishments during military service.

“My proudest accomplishment is leading a detachment on a successful deployment,” King said. “I am proud of training junior pilots and sailors to succeed.”

King serves a Navy that operates far forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation’s prosperity and security.

“The Navy is the shield of the republic,” King said. “We go out and make sure that trade can flow, and the country can be prosperous. We support our fellow democracies around the world.”

King is grateful to others for helping make a Navy career possible.

“I would like to thank the teachers and coaches at Hudson High School,” King added. “I also want to thank Leo Doty and Debbie and Tom King, who provided the influential guidance needed to succeed at the level I did.”

King is also grateful to the community back home in Ohio for their support.

“I want to thank the people of Northeast Ohio who are supporting the Navy,” King said. “We wouldn’t be here without you, and I am proud to hail from Ohio and represent our great town in the Navy. I am thankful for the circumstances bringing me the opportunities I have today.”
