By Lt. j.g. Taylor Worley, Navy Office of Community Outreach

MILLINGTON, Tenn. — Petty Officer 3rd Class McJowence Greg Reyes, a native of Conroe, Texas, was recently selected as the Blue Jacket of the Quarter (BJOQ) while serving at United States Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) Sigonella.

The Navy’s Blue Jacket of the Quarter program recognizes junior sailors for outstanding character, dedication, and going above and beyond their duties. Reyes was also awarded Gladiator of the Month for January.

Reyes, a graduate of Colegio De San Ignacio in 2021, has been in the Navy for one year, and now serves as a hospital corpsman

“Being awarded Blue Jacket of the Quarter is truly an honor, and I’m grateful just to be considered one,” Reyes said. “I don’t see it as a finish line, but I see it like a mile marker during a marathon, and a sign that I’m moving in the right direction, but I still have a long way to go. I am always hungry to improve, eager to learn more and driven to push myself beyond my current limits so I can better serve my patients and my team. Mile by mile, step by step, I am working to become the kind of Sailor that my Navy can always depend on.”

According to Navy officials, NMRTC’s mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high-quality healthcare services and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research.

USNMRTC Sigonella / Naval Hospital Sigonella is a community hospital located in the heart of the Mediterranean in Sicily, Italy. Comprised of a local satellite clinic and two branch health clinics located in Bahrain and Souda Bay, USNMRTC Sigonella’s staff of 387 serves approximately 8,500 active duty, family members, NATO members, retirees and other beneficiaries based on international collaborations and status of forces agreements.
