MILLINGTON, Tenn. – Heidi Morrison, a resident of Dover, New Hampshire, was recently selected for the Excellence in Leadership award while supporting Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Unit (NMRTU) Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

“I have been recognized with an Excellence in Leadership award by the Defense Health Agency (DHA) for sustained contributions to effectively building the DHA’s capacity for future performance while exemplifying the DHA’s values,” Morrison said.

Morrison served in the Navy for 20 years and retired from active duty as a lieutenant commander. Morrison has been a government employee for seven years and now serves as a registered nurse at Naval Branch Health Clinic Portsmouth.

“I am truly honored by this award,” Morrison said. “It provides affirmation of the leadership skills I contribute to the organization, validates my commitment to military medicine, and shines a spotlight on our team’s exceptional achievements. It is my privilege to lead such a dedicated team of professionals and to have the opportunity to invest in developing future leaders.”

According to Navy officials, NMRTU Portsmouth’s mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high-quality health care services and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research.

Navy Medicine – represented by more than 44,000 highly-trained military and civilian health care professionals – provides enduring expeditionary medical support to the warfighter on, below, and above the sea, and ashore.

This year, the Navy is commemorating its contribution to the nation’s defense as the United States celebrates 250 years of independence. According to Navy officials, for more than 250 years, the Navy has sailed the globe defending freedom and protecting prosperity.

Morrison can take pride in serving America through military and government service.
