By Lt. j.g. Taylor Worley, Navy Office of Community Outreach

MILLINGTON, Tenn. — Petty Officer 2nd Class Katrina Raagas, a native of San Diego, California, was recently selected as the Sailor of the Quarter (SOQ) while serving at United States Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) Sigonella.

The Navy’s Sailor of the Quarter program recognizes sailors for outstanding character, dedication and going above and beyond their duties.

“Receiving the Sailor of the Quarter award is a profound honor, not just as a recognition of my own efforts, but as a confirmation that hard work truly does pay off,” Raagas said. “It reinforces that leadership is watching and appreciates our contributions. My hope is that this serves as a powerful example for my junior Sailors as I continue to support them in reaching their goals.”

Raagas, a graduate of Morse High School in 2012, has been in the Navy for 10 years and serves as a hospital corpsman.

According to Navy officials, NMRTC’s mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high-quality healthcare services and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research.

USNMRTC Sigonella / Naval Hospital Sigonella is a community hospital located in the heart of the Mediterranean in Sicily, Italy.
