(STENNIS SPACE CENTER, Miss.) - Commander, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (COMNAVMETOCCOM) Rear Adm. John Okon, recently named Jacqueline Bussell as Junior Civilian of the Year.
(STENNIS SPACE CENTER, Miss.) - Commander, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (COMNAVMETOCCOM) Rear Adm. John Okon, recently named Jacqueline Bussell as Junior Civilian of the Year.
“Ms. Bussell’s expertise in all facets of her job and her quiet self-confidence make her a natural leader,” said Strategic Plans and Policy Department Acting Assistant Chief of Staff Bob Kiser, “She always demonstrates the highest degree of diplomacy and personal skill, to such an extent that others find it easy to follow her lead.”
Bussell is the security cooperation and security assistance program manager where she supports the command’s international strategic engagement plan; oversees foreign military training, sales and international agreements; and manages the official representation funds. She effectively managed many foreign engagements and visits this past fiscal year and additionally served as the command’s foreign disclosure manager while the position was vacated.
Rear Adm. Okon said, “There are so many on my team that show proactive leadership and enthusiasm every day. Whether big or small, everyone’s role contributes to the mission’s overall success, but Ms. Bussell is truly the best of the best.”
Bussell, a Holmes County Herald High School in Lexington, Mississippi, graduate currently resides in Slidell, Louisiana with her husband Holland. They have three children Alysha, Ashlee and Holland, II. She has a bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of New Orleans and is currently pursuing a master’s degree.
COMNAVMETOCCOM directs and oversees more than 2,500 globally-distributed military and civilian personnel who collect, process and exploit environmental information to assist Fleet and Joint Commanders in all warfare areas to make better decisions faster than the adversary
