(BREMERTON, Wash.) - A 2008 Woodland High School graduate and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native was named 2017 Sailor of the Year serving at Naval Base Kitsap (NBK) Bangor, Washington.
U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Shane R. McClelland, currently serving for seven years, was selected based on his exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, teamwork ethic, personal achievements and record of supporting and serving the community.
McClelland, is a master-at-arms serving as a Tactical Watch Officer with Harbor Patrol Unit, Naval Base Kitsap Bangor.
He is the son of Dennis McClelland of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Lisa Miller of Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania.
NBK Bangor serves as the host command for the Navy’s fleet throughout the Pacific Northwest, providing exceptional installation services, programs, and facilities to meet the needs of its hosted war-fighting commands, tenant activities, and personnel.
