HAMPTON ROADS, Va. - Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Norman Grisby, Jr., a Denbigh High School gradate and Newport News, Virginia, native, reports onboard Naval Air Station Oceana Dam Neck Annex, Training Support Center Hampton Roads (TSCHR), Information Technologies, on November 13.
Grisby, Jr., an electronics technician, is responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance of all radar, navigation, and communication systems.
Prior to reporting to TSCHR, Grisby, Jr. was stationed aboard the USS Nitze, an Arleigh Burke class guided-missile destroyer, homeported in Norfolk, Virginia. Arleigh Burke classed missile destroyers are equipped to operate with battle groups in high-threat environments and conduct a variety of missions, from peacetime presence and crisis management to sea control and power projection, in support of national military strategy.
In 2018, TSCHR provided centralized student management to 77,000 students and infrastructure support to learning centers and sites in the Hampton Roads area of responsibility, as well as direct support to the Fleet through an aggressive liaison service between Fleet Training Officers and learning centers/sites schedulers.
Grisby's wife, Vene, three daughters, and father, Norman Grisby, all reside in Newport News, Virginia.
