HAMPTON ROADS, Va. - Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Maria Elias, a 2009 Pasadena High School graduate and El Monte, California, native, received the Blue Jacket of the Quarter Award serving at Naval Support Activity (NSA) Hampton Roads, Virginia.

Elias, currently serving for almost two years, is a master-at-arms responsible for anti-terrorism and law enforcement operations. She serves as the watch bill coordinator for her duty section and is in charge of all force protection equipment for the command.
Blue Jacket of the Quarter Award is given each quarter to sailors who stand out from the rest for their professional accomplishments, commitment to their job, and military bearing. When asked what does receiving this award mean to her, Elias said," Receiving Blue Jacket of the Quarter has been an honor. It is an opportunity for me to represent my leadership and mentors in the best way I can. It goes to show that with hard work, dedication and a focused mindset, one can truly achieve more in their naval career."
NSA Hampton Roads is responsible to Navy Region Mid-Atlantic for the operation and maintenance of the installation of the same name that it is headquartered on. Adjacent to, but separate from Naval Station Norfolk, NSA Hampton Roads has the largest concentration of fleet headquarters administrative and communication facilities outside of Washington, D.C. It is also home to NATO's Allied Command Transformation.

"What I enjoy most about serving in the Navy are the endless opportunities that have been afforded to me and the ability I have to represent my country," Elias said. "It has challenged me in many ways and also has given me the strength and motivation to see things through. I have developed a new level of patience when it comes to dealing with obstacles to help me complete the everyday mission."
