Mount Pleasant Native Named New Professional of the Year at Naval Information Warfare Center

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Matthew Csernica, a native of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, was named New Professional (NP) of the Year at Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic in Charleston, South Carolina.

Csernica, a Clemson University graduate, supported engineering initiatives including the requirements body of knowledge and model-based systems engineering pilot projects. Additionally, Csernica is a member of the Surface Mine Warfare Development Center and Maritime Operations Center and Video Distribution System programs and serves as the Community Engagement Champion and Mentorship Coordinator on the NP Council.

Csernica considers winning the New Professional of the Year an “awesome start to a great career” at NIWC Atlantic. “I am very appreciative of my supervisors, teams, mentors and competency who have helped set me up for success and encouraged me to explore everything that [the command] has to offer,” Csernica said.

NIWC Atlantic provides systems engineering and acquisition to deliver information warfare capabilities to the naval, joint and national warfighter through the acquisition, development, integration, production, test, deployment, and sustainment of interoperable C4ISR, cyber and information technology capabilities.
