Norfolk, Va. (NNS) – Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) held a promotion ceremony for Executive Officer Capt. Rey Tanap on Main Street in Building CEP-200 aboard Naval Station Norfolk, Aug. 29.
In a ceremony attended by several hundred MARMC Sailors, civilians, friends and family, Tanap reaffirmed his oath of office before being officially pinned to the rank of Captain by his wife Joanne Tanap. He then gave a heartfelt speech recognizing his family and friends and thanking the command for everything they do to accomplish the mission of fixing ships.
Tanap joined the U.S. Navy in Subic Bay, Philippines in 1986. He attained the rank of Engineman Chief in 1995 and was commissioned as a Limited Duty Officer in 1998, aboard USS Princeton (CG 59).
MARMC provides surface ship maintenance, management and oversight of private sector maintenance and fleet technical assistance to ships in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States and provides support to the 5th and 6th Fleet Area of Responsibilities. They are also responsible for the floating dry-dock Dynamic (AFDL-6).
