NORFOLK, Va. - Jordan Barnes, a 2019 graduate of Old Dominion University and native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, recently received the Junior Civilian of the Quarter Award serving at Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic (CNRMA) Norfolk, Virginia.

Barnes, an inspector general specialist, said receiving the award was very special and he has a high sense of gratitude for this recognition.

"My goal when I started with the command was to bring a level of effort and energy that I thought would bring value and results, and it was very motivating to have my efforts formally recognized by the command," Barnes said.

CNRMA Norfolk is the regional coordinator for all shore-based naval personnel and shore activities in the Mid-Atlantic region, which encompasses 20 states, 14 installations, 50 Naval Operational Support Centers (NOSCs) and 168 special areas.

As the naval shore installation management headquarters for the Mid-Atlantic region, CNRMA provides coordination of base operating support functions for operating forces throughout the region in support of the Fleet, Fighter and Family.

Barnes' father, Gary Barnes, previously served in the U.S. Navy for 25 years and resides in Trenton, New Jersey. His mother, Theresa Barnes, lives in Peabody, Massachusetts.
