Quintana graduated from Independence High School in 2022.

Quintana joined the Navy two years ago. Today, Quintana serves as a hospital corpsman.

“What inspired me to join the Navy was when I saw the movie 'Antwone Fisher’,” said Quintana. "Seeing him look out over the ocean really inspired me."

The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Bakersfield.

“Growing up, I learned to be patient and to keep working hard even when something didn’t work out for me,” said Quintana. "Taking those lessons into the Navy has reinforced what it means to be patient."

According to Navy officials, NMRTC’s mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high-quality healthcare services and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research. NMRTC serves as the single point of contact in support of installation and operational commanders, providing medical information, support and over medical cognizance of the active duty and reserve force.

With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.

Quintana serves a Navy that operates forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation's prosperity and security.

“We will earn and reinforce the trust and confidence of the American people every day,” said Adm. Lisa Franchetti, chief of naval operations. “Together we will deliver the Navy the nation needs.”

Quintana has many opportunities to achieve accomplishments during military service.

“I am proud to be a hospital corpsman,” said Quintana. "To me, it is a privilege to take care of sailors and Marines. I am also proud of earning Sailor of the Quarter in the second quarter of fiscal year 2024 because I took someone who was on the brink of failure and helped them become an inspirational figure at the command."

Quintana can take pride in serving America through military service.

“Serving in the Navy is a reward to me because I can look back at the work I've done and be satisfied,” said Quintana. "Being able to take care of patients, seeing them recover and learning the most I can about the job makes me feel a sense of independence and inspires me to become an independent duty corpsman."

Quintana is grateful to others for helping make a Navy career possible.

“I would like to thank my grandparents for giving me a firm foundation and for making me the husband and corpsman I am today,” added Quintana. "I would also like to thank my wife for keeping my head clear. Whenever I am discouraged, she's always there for me."
