Kim joined the Navy three years ago. Today, Kim serves as a hospital corpsman.
“I joined the Navy for a change of pace in life and to follow in my father and brother’s footsteps of military service,” said Kim.
The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Tulsa.
Before joining the Navy, I worked as a sous chef, opening two restaurants in Tulsa,” said Kim. "That career path taught me the importance of work ethic and time management which ultimately has helped me succeed in my Navy career. "
In support of the U.S. Navy Surgeon General, NMFP provides command and control of all subordinate Navy Medicine Readiness Training Commands (NMRTCs), Readiness Training Units (NMRTUs) and assigned operational platforms to ensure they are fully trained, properly manned and capably equipped to be forward deployable and ready to execute operational medicine responsibilities in support of warfighter requirements, according to Navy officials.
With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.
Kim serves a Navy that operates forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation's prosperity and security.
“We will earn and reinforce the trust and confidence of the American people every day,” said Adm. Lisa Franchetti, chief of naval operations. “Together we will deliver the Navy the nation needs.”
Kim has many opportunities to achieve accomplishments during military service.
“I’m most proud of advancing in rank to petty officer third class because it was the biggest career marker I set for myself within my first couple years of service,” said Kim. "It was a testament to being a persistent, self-disciplined person with a strong work ethic."
Kim can take pride in serving America through military service.
“Serving in the Navy is a very fulfilling and rewarding experience,” said Kim. "I grew up around the military, and joining the Navy felt like I was finally somewhere I belonged."
Kim is grateful to others for helping make a Navy career possible.“I would like to thank my friends and previous employers, Kevin Nashan and Brian Green, for always pushing me to follow my dreams in life,” added Kim. "They are the ones who always stood by me during my best and worst times."
