MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Petty Officer 2nd Class Keone Hooker, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, recently reenlisted in the U.S. Navy for four years serving with Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) Sigonella, Italy.

Hooker graduated from Woodlawn High School in 2010 and from the University of Maryland Global Campus in 2024.
Hooker joined the Navy 10 years ago.
Today, Hooker serves as a hospital corpsman responsible for assisting in the prevention and treatment of disease, disability and injury using medical aid and preventive medicine procedures.
"Re-enlisting was meaningful for me because it reaffirmed my commitment to serving my country and continuing a career I am passionate about," said Hooker. "It gave me the opportunity to contribute to something greater than myself and uphold the values of our Nation. This decision also represents the sense of duty I have for my brothers and sisters in arms, with whom I've built strong bonds. Additionally, re-enlisting allows me to pursue further personal and professional goals I have set for myself aligning with the mission of the Navy. Ultimately, re-enlisting reflects my choice that reflected my dedication to a purpose that gives my life meaning while allowing me to continue attending college utilizing tuition assistance and apply for a commissioning program."
According to Navy officials, NMRTC’s mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support o operational forces, deliver high-quality healthcare services and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research. NMRTC serves as the single point of contact in support of installation and operational commanders, providing medical information, support and over medical cognizance of the active duty and reserve force.
As Hooker and other sailors continue to train and perform missions, they take pride in serving their country in the U.S. Navy.
"Serving in the Navy is a sense of gratitude for me," added Hooker. "I am grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of liberty and justice for all."
