MILLINGTON, Tenn. – Chief Warrant Officer 2 Michael Moore, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, will graduate from the U.S. Navy's Limited Duty Officer/Warrant Officer/Chief Warrant Officer (LDO/WO/CWO) Academy on Nov. 27.

Moore, a 2008 graduate of Clay-Chalkville HIgh School, joined the Navy 15 years ago.

"I joined the Navy to start a new life and see different parts of the world," said Moore.

The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Birmingham.

"I learned hard work and dedication," said Moore. "You can accomplish anything you set your mind to and your environment doesn't limit your capabilities."

The LDO/WO/CWO Academy is one of four officer accession programs operating at Officer Training Command Newport (OTCN) Newport, Rhode Island. The academy prepares officers to become effective leaders by developing fundamental skills in leadership, written and oral communication, career management and administration.

Before joining the academy, Moore was an enlisted chief petty officer serving as an operations specialist. After graduation, Moore will serve as an officer aboard USS Jason Dunham, a guided-missile destroyer, operating out of Mayport, Florida.

With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.

Moore serves a Navy that operates far forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation’s prosperity and security.

“We will earn and reinforce the trust and confidence of the American people every day,” said Adm. Lisa Franchetti, chief of naval operations. “Together we will deliver the Navy the nation needs.”

Moore has many opportunities to achieve accomplishments during military service.

"I'm most proud of making warrant officer," said Moore. "With all the sacrifices and obstacles I had to overcome, it means everything to my family, my sailors and myself to see me in this position."

As Moore and other sailors continue to train and perform missions, they take pride in serving their country in the U.S. Navy.

"Serving in the Navy has given me the opportunity to put forth my all into bettering myself but assisting in the success of sailors around me," added Moore. "Everything we do as a team will result in mission success."
