MILLINGTON, Tenn. — Hospitalman Christian Moronta, a native of Riverside, California, was nominated for the DAISY Award while serving with Expeditionary Medical Facility 150 Mike (EMF-M) in Jacksonville, Florida.

Moronta graduated from Beaumont Senior High School in 2021. Moronta joined the Navy two years ago.
The DAISY Award is a recognition program established by the DAISY Foundation to celebrate and express gratitude to nurses for all that they do. Nurses are nominated for the award by patients, family members, coworkers, physicians, staff members or anyone who experiences or witnesses a nurse providing extraordinary compassionate care to a patient. The Navy’s hospital corpsmen are included in nominations because of the patient care they provide.
Moronta was nominated for the DAISY Award by a patient he provided care for in the emergency room at Naval Hospital Jacksonville.
“Receiving the DAISY Award nomination is a deeply humbling milestone that demonstrates the impact of my efforts as a Navy corpsman,” Moronta said. “As the child of legal immigrants who arrived in the United States from neighboring countries, I watched my parents work tirelessly for every opportunity. Their resilience and work ethic inspired my drive to go above and beyond when caring for others. I am incredibly proud to serve my country, and I hope to continue honoring my family’s legacy through exceptional service and clinical excellence.”
EMF-M consists of more than 400 sailors, including medical staff and support personnel. EMFs are staffed and sourced by Navy Medicine personnel from Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Commands (NMRTCs) at military treatment facilities across the country. The bulk of EMF-M’s personnel come from NMRTC Jacksonville and Naval Hospital Jacksonville.
