MILLINGTON, Tenn. – Petty Officer 1st Class James Luckett, a native of Pearl, Mississippi, serving in the United States Navy wishes the New England Patriots good luck during the 2026 Super Bowl.
“I’m rooting for the Patriots because they're going to win,” Luckett said.
Luckett joined the Navy 12 years ago. Today, Luckett serves as a logistics specialist with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 11.
This year, the Navy is commemorating its contribution to the nation’s defense as the United States celebrates 250 years of independence.
According to Navy officials, for more than 250 years, the Navy has sailed the globe defending freedom and protecting prosperity.
With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.
As Luckett and other sailors continue to train and perform missions, they take pride in serving their country in the U.S. Navy.
“Serving in the Navy means love of country,” Luckett added. “John 15:13 says ‘greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.’”
